A responsive, reliable resolver may reduce that initial wait. Connecting, server processing and transferring content happen afterward. A page starting sooner does not establish that the connection has more download bandwidth.

Why might the result vary?

Browsers, systems and resolvers cache answers; existing connections can keep using an earlier address. A change may therefore have no immediate effect. With a CDN, different answers may direct users to different content servers, indirectly affecting performance. The chosen server and network path matter more than the popularity of a resolver.

Will it reduce game ping?

Once a game is connected, latency mainly depends on server location, congestion and routing. Changing DNS does not normally reroute that existing connection or increase a broadband plan’s capacity. A fresh lookup might lead to another game server and change the experience, but lower ping is not guaranteed. Downloads and video also depend on the content server and path.

What should I compare?

Separate lookup failures and slow initial loads from persistent lag after connecting. Consider reliability, filtering, privacy and reachability on your network. Ping to a DNS server is not a measurement of actual lookup time. No resolver is fastest in every country or on every ISP; a working service need not be replaced just because another is popular.

Further reading

RFC 1034

Google Public DNS FAQ

What is DNS, and how does a domain find an IP address?

Long-running public DNS services: addresses and regional choices

",1793192130554]
