City estimates can be inaccurate; an address alone normally does not identify a home or a person. Families, workplaces and unrelated subscribers may share an exit, and an old record may belong to a different user today.

Does knowing it give access to my device?

Knowing an address does not provide a password or control of a device. Risk depends on reachable services, vulnerabilities and access controls. A globally routable address does not mean every incoming connection is allowed. Updates and firewall rules still matter; routine exposure to websites does not make every kind of public sharing harmless.

Why be careful with public logs?

An IP in a public screenshot can help connect activity across posts when combined with usernames and timestamps. Harassment or denial of service against an exit may also disrupt a connection. Providing necessary information privately to trusted support is different from leaving complete diagnostic logs publicly searchable.

What precautions are useful?

Review screenshots and share only what is needed. Keep devices and routers updated, protect accounts and avoid unnecessary remote administration exposure. A VPN or proxy may change the exit some sites see, but accounts and cookies can still link activity. Dynamic IPs and temporary IPv6 addresses are not complete anonymity measures.

Further reading

RFC 7721

RFC 8981

What is DNS, and how does a domain find an IP address?

What is an IP address?

",1793192130554]
